Yoonsoo Nam is an artist who conveys the message of God’s light through painting and poetry. From works capturing the supernatural spiritual world to pieces exploring the fusion of fiber art and new media, and abstract works based on the beauty of simplicity, Nam’s diverse expressions not only deliver visual beauty but also provide opportunities for contemplation through their symbolic meaning. Nam received a Bachelor and a Master of Fine Arts from Ewha Womans University, and a Master of Divinity from Seoul Jangsin University. She was awarded as the Poet Laureate selected by the city of Lewisville, USA, and currently serves as the director of Stream Art and as an artist at Elyon Arthouse. With experience in 20 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions, she collaborates with gallerists and interior designers domestically and internationally.

남윤수 작가는 회화와 시를 통해 하나님의 빛의 메시지를 전하는 아티스트이다. 초자연적인 영적 세계를 담은 작품에서부터 섬유예술과 새로운 매체의 융합을 탐구한 작품, 단순함의 미학을 기반으로 한 추상 작품에 이르기까지 남 작가는 다채로운 표현을 통해 시각적인 아름다움을 전달할 뿐만 아니라 그 상징적 의미를 통해 묵상의 기회를 제공한다. 이화여자대학교에서 미술 학사와 석사 학위, 서울장신대학교에서 목회학 석사 학위를 받았다. 미국 루이스빌시(City of Lewisville)가 선정한 계관 시인(Poet Laureate)으로 수상되었으며, 현재 미국 텍사스에 있는 스트림아트 디렉터 및 엘리온 아트하우스 아티스트로서 20회의 개인전과 다수의 단체전의 경험을 토대로 국내외 갤러리스트 및 인테리어 디자이너들과 협력하고 있다.

“I saw one touch of a paintbrush on canvas exploded the brilliant light in my vivid dream at night. That caused me to start this artful journey by faith. Every creativity overflows from HIM and the unseen reality in me comes out through limitless styles of art. My paintings are portals that open the invisible to the visible and bring heaven to earth. 

The abstract artwork gives freedom not only to an artist but also to who sees the artwork. It carries multidimensional space and symbols more than detailed depiction. Abstract dots, lines and colors themselves make something simple yet profound. It’s like a song of music without lyrics. The frequency of melodies and rhythms touch our hearts and minds greatly beyond our limited words and it affects our lives positively or negatively. Whether we aware it or not, abstract paintings, which are unreadable sometimes, still influence our mind and emotions. That is why I am passionate about creating abstract paintings to release the frequency of love, joy and peace to people who are suffered by the low frequency of fear, depression, anxiety and hopelessness.

Art makes life more beautiful and meaningful. I am thankful to see my paintings become a part of people’s life and fill not only their rooms but also their hearts with beauty and peace from HIM. I hope the unique expression of my art will touch the innermost being, so that everyone can experience Heaven from the inside out.“
